Verbatim Announce Availability of PP Filament in their 3D Print Material Range

Verbatim Australia, part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group, has announced the immediate availability of PP filament material for use with widely available fused fabrication filament (FFF) 3D printers. Verbatim’s PP (Polypropylene) products exapnd the company’s ever-growing 3D filament offering available to product designers, design engineers, manufacturers, hobbyists and more.

What is Polypropylene (PP)?

A long-standing staple of plastic containers, Polypropylene (PP) 3D print filament enables you to create durable, flexible, transparent, heat- and chemical-resistant containers for food packaging, medical equipment, IT kit and other appliances.

It requires a heated print bed of around 100°C and is ideal for objects that require softness, transparency and heat resistance. It has impressive mechanical properties and high chemical resistances, which makes PP interesting compared to conventional 3D printing filaments.

The new Verbatim PP filament complements the company’s existing portfolio of top grade ABS, PLA and PET filaments.

Leapfrog Bolt 3D Printer successfully prints Verbatim’s PP filament

The challenge of printing with Polypropylene was accepted by Verbatim in conjunction with Leapfrog 3D Printers, using their latest printer release, the Bolt. Verbatim’s expertise in materials and filaments and Leapfrog’s innovative 3D printer designs made them a perfect match in undertaking this challenge.

Verbatim’s 3D filaments are compatible with nearly all 3D printers, including Ultimaker, Massportal, MakerBot, Leapfrog, RepRap derivatives and those from Aye Aye Labs, Builder, iMaker, PrintrBot, and many others. The new PP filament is available in clear with a 1.75mm diameter (reorder #55950), and a 3mm diameter (reorder #55951).

Verbatim also plans on launching BVOH filament within the coming months. BVOH is a water-soluble support material that enables you to create complex structures that wouldn’t be possible with ABS or PLA alone.
